Specialist consultancy for complex needs provision
Lindsey brings deep knowledge of some of the most challenging and sensitive areas of children’s residential care. Lindsey conducted a lengthy research project for her Master’s thesis which focused on what specialist children’s homes needed to care for children affected by exploitation. However, this is not just theoretical knowledge. It is built on years of direct experience working with children and families affected by exploitation, disability and deprivation of liberty within statutory settings. We help providers understand what these children need and what good provision genuinely looks like.
Lindsey understands the national sufficiency challenges in caring for children with complex needs. Lindsey has led a residential service caring for children with significant and complex needs, through years of managing complex child protection cases, she understands how to hold and manage risk and support the care teams in providing consistent, safe care. Lindsey understands this can feel challenging for new providers and is able to guide and support professionals in working within a safe uncertainty paradigm. Lindsey can guide services in managing complexity in line with Ofsted’s publication How local authorities and children’s homes can achieve stability and permanence for children with complex needs.

Children affected by exploitation, those living with learning disabilities and those subject to deprivation of liberty are among the most vulnerable young people in the care system. They are also the most likely to experience placement breakdown when a provider is not equipped to meet their needs.
Placement breakdown is not just a disruption. For children who have already experienced significant trauma and instability, it is another confirmation that the adults around them cannot be relied upon.
